You can't link to ECP like that.

Post up the part number instead, then we can search for it...

STREETLINE SPORTING KIT 40mm 316/318 (NOT M-TECH SUSP) 82-90

Considering that this is for 316/318 only and not for 6 cylinder E30's, never mind not being compatible with the Sport's suspension, I think you'll struggle with it!

Plus it's only a 40mm drop, and you want a really low and stiff ride, I think this is not the kit for you.

Someone else might be able to suggest something better for you though.

Giles.

ive only a got a 318i with standard suspension, its not a 6 cylinder. I know it wont be as low as id want so i would cut the springs, i know a lot of people frown on this but due to my budget it will have to be done.

STREETLINE SPORTING KIT 40mm 316/318 (NOT M-TECH SUSP) 82-90

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LOWERS BY APPROX: 40mm

The Bilstein Streetline range is ideal for the price conscious motorist who wants Bilstein quality and performance at an entry level price.

Each kit contains: 4 x Bilstein 'Original' gas shock absorbers plus 1 x lowered and uprated spring kit.

Thats all it says about the kit. comes to 221 with vat

Fair enough. I thought when you said you were using your car for drifting that you'd have a 325...

nope unfortunatley i cant insure a 2.5 yet but will hopefully putting a 2.5 in when i can afford it. whats the difference in the suspension from the 2.5 and 1.8 is it just better as standard, i didn't think the set-up was any different.

dont do it mate

cutting the springs may look the nuts
but in the long run it isnt safe and will cause excessive wear on other parts

i have done this many years ago as a teen but sod that
its not good practice and will do no good for your car mate

maybe if your really wanting to drift you would be better holding on a bit longer and saving for a h&R cupkit??

the bilstein i think is more aimed at a comfy ride with a subtle but nice stance

drifting requires a better quality of set up imo
doubt the poor streetline kit would last long under drift conditions

Save up dont bodge
it will be cheaper in the long run

cheers for the advice ill take it into consideration. i might be able to borrow some suspension while a friends e30 is off the road due to rust. then i will be able to save up for a better kit. i know a few people who have cut their springs and had no problems, but at the same time others have said dont do it for various reasons.
i didn't think the bilstein kit would be what i wanted but was seaking advice.
ill put a post in the wanted section to see if anyone has got anything

try get hold of a pair of front 325i legs

then at least you can use 51mm shocks

this will prob allow a lot more options too when buying new set up

also things like fitting a rear anti rollbar will help too

im in the middle of doing all this to my 320i now

am rebushing rear axle and trailing arms etc

so should have a nice stiff ride at the end of it

good luck

I prefer the Cup Kit over the sprintline kit. Its stiffer and lower and doesnt allow the the car to roll anywhere as much.

Ive had Jags's car for 3 days and it was fitted with Bilstien sprintline + poly bushes. It came no where near to cars fitted with H&R Cup Kits.

Both can be bought on E30Zone shop (to purchase Sprintline you need to pm or email).

ok i found two sets which seem to fit the bill, a spax non-adjustable kit lowers car by 60mm all round and is Ԛ£250. also i found a fk high tech suspension kit lowers 75-50mm front-rear. that is Ԛ£234

anybody got any experience with either of these.

also will fitting a kit for 6pot be that much better than a kit for a 4pot? and how do the rears difer if at all as the front strut housing is bigger.

cheers again

nope rear is the same for both cars. As will be said your better of buying a 325i when it's time for a bigger engine.

ok ill go for the 6pot strut housing but i did a quick search trying to find how much they go for, but didn't find anything. anyone got a rough price on how much they cost. i should be able to get the suspension at the end of the month (pay day). so ill let you know how i get on.

cheers
