i have an m52 gearbox i was thinking of using in an e30 conversion package and noticed it's a getrag box from a 323i , what's the difference e36 getrag v e36 zf gear boxes ?

i,m no expert mick but from my experience i know the zf is a much stronger way overkill for a 328i or even a e36 m3 if memory serves they can handle 550-600 horses they weigh 50 kgs
the getrag on the other hand is much lighter and is at the other end of the scale as far as horsepower limits is concerned that 220 number is i think how much torque is the max it can take
hence why they fitted the zf to the b28 and the getrag to the b20 and b25

had time back again i would seriously consider using the m20b20 box i had,
i believe there the same just different angles that the m20 and m52 sit at
because i had a hard time finding the propshaft and zf box at a reasonable price
and if it blew i could always just get another cheap and i really wanted the front end as light as pos fiberglass bonnet bumper etc so the extra 20 kgs the zf box weighs is a lot
but if the extra weight and money is not a big deal then yea the box is a cadbury creme egg
