:) ahh man I hope you have got a lot of patience,or a lot of money to give to your mechanic. My tourer failed Test on headlamp aim.
Decided to keep it original and put a new vacum kit on it.

Not having the time to attempt it myself I left it with the competent mechanic only to get a phone call....."I hope you realise that the system is put in with the wiring loom, before the engine/dash goes in,its gonna be 2-3hrs work(plus the cost of the original unit Ԛ£88+VAT). Luckily I phoned my prefered BMW specialist who services my motor. He told me to forget it.Thoughly lubricate and adjust it by hand, nut + Bolt it and forget about it was his solution, and it works.

So in answer to your question, E34 bits probably will fit,but remember the E30 ones are a sealed unit with untransferable parts. Be prepared to have half the dash and loom in bits....have fun......Mak

the old system can be very easily ripped out (only 2 hoses that pass through the bulkhead)

it's the wiring for the electric e34 setup that'll be fun.

as this is a very common problem, a decent solution (other than the garage "can't be arsed" approad by disabling) would be very useful to e30 owners everywhere!

my quest continues...

oh yeah...!

is the e34 control pot vastly different to the e30 one?

just wondering if there's a way of doing it without hacking the control unit apart?

looks fairly straightforward though... should make a lot more sense when i've pillaged the breakers and have the parts in my hands...

The E34 controller is a different shape to the dash button holes in the E30. I think demlot said the Z3 one'll fit fine.

I'm a glutton for punishment though...
