not sure if im completely stupid but trying to use the jack, the side of the jack hits the side of the car before it actually fits under the car!! what am I doing wrong or is there something missing off my jack?
it says it fits 320i and my car is a 320i convertible.

the foot goes on the floor and the piece with the notch fits under the sill jack point.
then just wind it up.

Convertibles have deeper sills so you may have trouble with a standard jack. I'm not sure the convertible jack is different though, never looked at mine.
Unless you're stuck where you are with a puncture, you should invest in a trolley jack anyway. The little one Smithy posted should only be an emergency roadside jack IMO, it's not up to the job (as I discovered when my car fell off it
).

I only want to use it for roadside punctures. would be just my luck there are different kinds. Just checked realOEM.com and there does appear to be different part numbers for jacks between convertible and sedan.
Can anyone confirm this?

Learn something new every day! I know cab cills are different, but it's never occured to me that they would need a different jack.

Had puncture on my cab
On slight hill, jack was a waste of time
Would not fit under car as it was to low.
Finally managed to lift the car then the jack hit side of the car
chipping the m tech kit.
Nightmare
Allways carry trolly jack in boot now.

Never compared my cab jack to a standard one, but I have to use mine to get it high enough for my trolley jack to go under! Your car would have to be blimmin low for a jack like mine not to fit...
E30 in need of wiring loom smoke since April '11...
tried jack again last night. does not fit. when sliding jack into position it hits the side of the car before the arm reaches the jack point under car! I do not have m tech kit, car not lowered, and I was definately not drunk this time!
maybe I need to open the door in order to fit it under? but this would not work on the back.
the entire fitting even looks different. the jack has a sort of lip on the end and the car has a circular hole that looks like the jack should have a pole that fits into it! guess I better not get a flat
