As above, I'm having a really hard time removing the handbrake cable from the control arm. I have stripped everything off. All that is left is the inner cable itself and the outer sleeve that is stuck. Also number 3 on the diagram, the support is still there but the bolts are out but it seems to be stuck there. The inner cable has been disconnected from the actual handbrake and I've tried all sorts to pull it off. PB, heat, vice grips, ALL OF MY MIGHT... I'm worried I'm going to pull the car off the jack stand and squash myself soon.

Any tips or ideas will be very appreciated.

Steve.

Mine was the same, I think I hammered the cable out with a drill bit and then part number 3 pulls out.

I had the same issue, ended up drilling out the feruls at each end, they were so badly rusted in place, thankfully the new cables have plastic ends so no more corrosion once done. You need to exercise a subtle combination of psychology and Extreme Violence to get those mothers out.
