I've done both Insp 1 and Insp 2 on various newer model Beemers, but whats the current average costs for both at dealers and indies?

Where are you based as its better to take it to an indie that knows these cars.

SE London. I have an specialist indie I've used for years and trust but wanted to get some upfront sense of £ to help my spend planning!Satan wrote:Where are you based as its better to take it to an indie that knows these cars.

What you need is for your indie to down autopsy on your car and to tell you what is wrong with it and then you can decide on where to spend the money in stages.
I think when Barry worked at a dealers in London there was an E30 in that had a check over and the projected bill was something like £7k to £10k I may have the wrong figures as it was a few years back.

I'm 99% sure mine will be largely fine. It has been in storage though for 10 years and even though it had full service in the last few weeks, I'm of a mind to give it an Inspection in a few hundred miles time.
Heading to see my guys tomorrow so will see what they say. My list also includes suspension, waterpump, timing belt etc so its going to be a strong number regardless!

Even on a "mint" E30 there will be issues as you have already found out as you are replacing the inner rear rubbers a flap is missing the suspension needs doing etc etc I have been through this myself.
If you want a good mechanic who knows his E30's then speak to Barry or bss325i on here.

Appreciate that. I'll be in touch with them if needed. Luckily my guys know their stuff and worked on my MCoupe for 4 years with similar issues which didn't break the bank, so I should be good.
Weather strips are ordered, flap is fine. (just need fixing down) and suspension replacement setup is relatively cheap.
Plus I'm in no rush, so can pace myself and enjoy ownership
