hmmmm, I'm sorry you got mugged off. Personally I would never buy off someone as illiterate as that. There are a million things wrong with that advert that are screaming at me. But we live and learn.
Good luck getting it sorted, if you can't get your money back, which I think would be the better option out the 2.

I have contacted Citizen Advise for Trading Standards. They said I definitely have a case but gave me very generic advices.. I’ll send him a letter first. I could take the e30 as a project and lose out maybe £1500 but the e24 is pure £3 - 3.5k loss. Started it yesterday and the engine misfires, on the bottom of the oil cap is cappuccino so looks like head gasket need looking at, and overall car doesn’t seem good tbh.. Yeah as Mineralblue says we live and learn. I have personally bought and sold over 100 cars in a past and yeah some needed £120 spending on new rear wiper and front drop links but this is a out of this world..
when you compare the pictures of the e30 is just unreal and I bought that for my wife on her 30th birthday as she always liked it.. she may see it running on her 37th
Now I need to make a plan how to get money back for e24 and get e30 on tho road and stop crying. Made a mistake but I can see an opportunity to get lot of knowledge about e30s now.

just seen this thread- dear god.
its obvious you have been sold a pup. Ive ran civil claims in the republic and have not had much in the way of joy over the years.
whatever has happened to that engine i would not be looking to reuse any of it. This is a good opportunity for an engine swop as good B25's are getting hard to source.
If you not crying now i suspect you will be once that body kit is removed!

OK, can we get back to the original post, we've a newbie who's asking for help with a tight budget.
Assumption 1
All the engine is present! Lucas, is there a box of parts with the car? Rocker cover, inlet manifold maf throttle body etc??? If it is. Reassemble is the best end result you can get. I reckon the head was diagnosed as the problem and either they stripped it and couldn't fix it as they found another problem. If that's the case, now it's stripped, the problem should be visible........ you said it turns over so scoring in cylinder, block cracked, pistons fecked..... all easy to see. Head needs inspection. Someone on here should be able to recommend some where to start with that.
If the block is fecked....there are others available... eBay = https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 2988418995
Assumption 2
Gearbox is fine.
Assumption 3
Someone on here knows rear screen replacement kit advice....
Simple search = https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 3794991758
Assumption 4
Rest of the roof is fine, worst case you need to buy a good cover for the winter months. That'll be the case for most convertibles on here. Loads of cover recommendations
Assumption 5
Bodywork is needed to each corner. But this is not time critical. Tidy up yourself or budget to get through mot and save up for repair at later date. Most cars on here are projects. Welcome to the club!!!

For perspective (all just my opinion based on photos)... honest car by the looks of it, but needs bodywork to each corner plus an interior and a roof. Similar budget required...

I am not sure whether there are some engine parts in a boot, as I can’t open it with a key..
Is there any other way I can get it opened?
And.. the roof. Is it electric? If so where would be the button to operate it, as I had convertibles before but this one doesn’t seem to have a desicated button for the roof, or I can’t find it..

Something doesn't add up if you have sold so many cars in the past how did you end up in this position and in debt as you had to take out a loan?
For that amount of money to spend out on cars you could have flown out to view the cars.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to view my advert
Here is an absolute stunning rare example of BMW e30 325 autovogue of Stafford convertible Real stunning car to look at and really rare

everything works fine on the car But the gasket replacement. Is what will make all the difference
Most BMW’s Of this age I was told would’ve already had a gasket replacement or is due one as it something on a BMW especially this model usually needs changing however I am selling the car As it is
I spoke to a few people and they told me I need to get the head Skimmed and to be honest I don’t know where to get it done I feel if somebody who know what there doing in the UK they could have it done in no time but for me in Ireland I don’t know anybody who would do this And BMW main dealer don’t work at classic cars they told me so I’m just selling it as it is because autovogue
Car Needs to go to UK specialist
And I don’t want just anyone at all to try their hand on it Give me a call and I will explain everything
However this car is located in Republic of Ireland in Limerick
And if it’s successful in auction
I can arrange to have the car transported Anywhere in the United Kingdom door-to-door delivery for a sum of £300. With Smiths vehicle solutions

Not for an experienced buyer/seller.billyfrost wrote:Impulse buy?Satan wrote:Something doesn't add up if you have sold so many cars in the past how did you end up in this position and in debt as you had to take out a loan?

Never dealt with a classic cars, only with modern in order to make a profit.
I had one car shipped from Wales 6-7 years ago and arrived in a showroom condition so maybe thats where I had the confidence and trust to go ahead and buy another without viewing? Maybe? I don’t know.. I can easily afford to repay the loan,,my income is strong so its more of a mental impact because of the huge disappointment and also time consuming process to get them both on the road rather than a financial struggle.
This meant to be more as a project / new hobby? (Project not on this scale)
Anyway I’ll get around it...
I will be restoring the old engine, as the conversion is mega expensive based on quotes I’ve given..
JUST SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO OPEN THAT BOOT??
I need to know whether the rest of the engine is in there..
The key goes in turns but nothing happens.
Is it spring loaded?
Is it just a mechanical lock or is there also an actuator?

has your car got central locking. which unlocked the boot then you just push the button , or turn it manually then press the button. its a mechanical lock on the inside that can be opened but from the inside, your have to work out a way in maybe tru back seat or speaker holes in parcel shelf and get a long rod to push the release button inside.
where are you based ?

The convertible doesn't have the access panel, WD40 the hell out of the lock, wait then try again wiggling the key as you do so.
For engine work/conversion I'd contact DanThe who is on here for advice, I would also be in touch with the seller to try to extract some money from him, the car was described as rust free it isn't is in your court.

Danthe is in Cannock pal, not far from you, one of the best e30 guys on here, your only problem is he's stacked out. The boot issue is probably going to be a central door locking unit issue, which is in the driver side lower a pillar, behind the speaker panel IIRC. I'd ask for one in the wanted section on here, plenty of fraggers, then change it out. Other than that it needs a small hole drilling in the rear panel, it's been covered in previous posts on here.

I'm guessing there was no pictures along with the advert as the state of that car would've been hard to hide..?

If you have taken a loan out to pay for this car, discuss it with the loan company and hand the debt back to them to deal with.

PONY, 2013 - "Anyway span 360 degrees hitting the kerb and giving the old man two fingers as I was spinning like Michael Schumacher would
I am fine to pay off the few grand loan I took, I am not starving or anything..
I only wanted to pay for it in instalments intead of wacking a big chunk off my savings.
I am taking a legal action against the guy with my solicitor so I am not to worried about that. If it takes a week or a year it doesn’t matter..
all I am worried about is that I won’t get the car on the road by next summer due to amount of work needed.
How does it work with registering car from Ireland?
Any taxes to pay apart from the 55 or 60 import fees?
(I am not originally from this country, I looked online to research it but I swear down there are 3-4 different stories I’ve read)

I am Slovakian, lived in UK for 13 years.
Good news with my boot, managed to unlock it thanks to some good advices here.
Even better news is that there are ALL the engine parts present.
So I will be definitely restoring the original granny engine, as it would be a shame to not to even try salvage it. Parts also seem widely available and cheap. if required.
I have Removed the seats and carpet for good clean and to protect them from weather as roof is still in bits and another good discovery- no rust at all. All very very solid.
After all, car is definitely worth putting back on the road.
Bodykit and front arches are the only concern after the engine is fixed.
PLEASE ADVISE: (Based on pictures on page 1)
Would you recommend to have the bodykit repaired or just fit a new one on?
Full respray will follow anyway.
I have a 3K budget to have it al done. (Inc. engine obviously)

Good for you. I would say the bodykit is repairable (I work in a bodyshop, and we've restored worse.)

Just asked as its sometimes cheaper to ship the car back out to EE and get the work done there as that is what my nephew did with one of his cars.Lucasso86 wrote:I am Slovakian, lived in UK for 13 years.
