Headlight Wiper Testing

In my quest to have working Headlight wipers, I ended up acquiring 2 sets of motors.

When bench testing, only 1 motor successfully tested with:
Negative to the Brown wire
Positive to the Black wire
Positive for a few seconds to the Red wire, this caused the motor to run its complete cycle.

However in my attempts to get the other motors testing the same, my original working motor now only works when the Red wire is connected (as do the other motors)

Struggling to find further details on this, is there a switch or something under the silicon covering the wires coming into the motor?

Your best bet is to pm Brianmoore, what he doesn't know bout E30 electrics isnt worth knowing.
