Thinking of buying this, have a little project on the go.
Am going to build a shepards hut to use as an office, have plenty of timber and picked up some curved corrugate sheets (off a 1920's railway carriage) and now need a chassis.
I like this but not sure what it might cost to get it collected, its about 60 miles from me. Waiting for a reply from seller regarding length, but wondered if any knew what I might expect to pay for recovery?

looks like it has the potential to be a good project. not seen one of them for years though.
as for transport costs? not a clue, see what response you get about the length then ring round a few places to get quotes about cost to haul it back to your's.

I guess its all down to the transportation cost, if it sold for just £100 but is going to cost £500 to have it on a low loader, the its not worth it. Be a good historic base though.

Work out the mileage from London W12 to where the chassis is and then to yours and times it by 1.5 to work out the price and I can ask Terry if he's up for it.
Will it fit on a standard low loader?

If you have the right bit on your car licence you could always hire a transporter self drive. I have used this crowd a couple of times.

It may fit on a 7.5t and they have a place in Bath

Why not fix up the RR and tow it? I'm sure you could persuade some hero to steer it with what's left of the steering wheel...

As mentioned above, I could just rope it back nehind the CRV, my wife could steer the chassis, time to get my own back from a little trip years ago.
Had to dump a Golf GTI at a scrap yard years ago, my wife was towing me, the Golf had no glass, my wife was a smoker at the time, you can figure out the rest..........

I hired a trailer a little while back, was cheaper than transport - i spoke to the hire place first with my genuine concerns (along your lines) and they were pretty flexible/helpful (didn't look to hard)!!!
Can also get around it if you have someone with you who has it on their licence (effectively drive it as a learner, i believe, but no need for L plates!) - although I believe anyone who passed their test pre '98 ish (maybe a bit earlier) can legally tow anyway, so it wouldn't matter if that was the case!

Over my head with that one Maurice
Cost £177 to get it up here, but also cost me many grey hairs. The seller was an absolute joke, never have I had to deal with such a pain in the back side.
It didn't matter what I said, what I organised, everything was no good, everything was met with complaint or argument.
She said in the ad "decent track" for collection & recovery so when I said about a lorry collecting, oh it might be too big, we have had lorries stuck. What the f uck did she think would be needed to collect it??
She then said about a digger pulling out the field for £25 and leaving at the bottom of the drive WHERE IT WASNT IN ANYONES WAY IN THE LARGE YARD. I said I didn't mind, as the lorry driver said he would be able to get it from the field, but it she wanted to pull it out i would be happy to pay the £25 to make it easy for the lorry driver. Fast forward a day and she was now moaning about paying £25
I said I would pay you stupid woman.
More messages followed, usually about who and when and how it was being collected, and trying to tell me what I should/shouldn't be doing etc.
I had collection with the lorry driver arranged, for the following Wednesday, not good enough of course so that resulted in more complaining.
Finally spoke to her on the phone and ended up losing my paticence with her, she just would not shut up about her constant demands and complaints. She would say stupid things, such as, when I said the lorry should be with her at midday (which of course wasn't good enough) as he was my contractor I must control him and ensure he arrives at exactly midday, because in her experience all lorry drivers lie and never do what they say. So when I say, look we can't foresee hold ups, traffic etc she would say such stupid things like "oh we don't have many hold ups or bad traffic around here" You live next to the A30 for f uck sake, a road notorious for hold ups and accidents, christ almighty the stupid bitch was hard work.
I have left out many of her other moans, but at the end of the day I had it removed 7 business from winning the auction which I think it perfectly acceptable, but not to her of course, even though where the chassis was left by the digger and she told me on the phone it wasn't in the way, it was apparantly in the way, despite the lorry driver telling me the yard was huge and there was no way it was in anyones way
Funnily enough, she was clearly thick, as with her many texts, the one with EXACT DIRECTIONS YOUR LORRY DRIVER MUST USE she said "turn off the A40"
Jesus if she doen't even no which road she lives on
Nothing short of a nightmare. I cannot stand people like that, oh yeah and one big problem was she now couldn't be there for collection (had to go to London for an urgent meeting) this was now a problem as she would have to pay a member of staff to come and oversee collection, which I know she was insinuating I would have to pay for if the driver was late and the staff member had to hang around. Despite this bullshit, her aunty lived on site and the there was a gardener working there when the lorry driver turned up. I mean, how the hell is my fault she had a meeting to go to, she knew Wed was the collection day (even though she said he probably won't bother to turn up etc ect)
One of lifes people who could do with being gassed.

It was mate, you could be right about the money, though she did keep saying "it's not about the money", maybe to many times, perhaps she thought it was valuable. It isn't though.

it's not just sellers though, i've had it when i've given folks quotes for work,
but, you got what you wanted, hopefully for a price you were willing to pay (all in), so fingers crossed you wont have to deal with her again.

I am trying at the moment to move it across my land to where its permanant spot will be, it's putting up a fight though, 6 flat tyres are not helping!

So I managed to burn out the clutch on my CRV moving the above into its location, whats it going to cost to replace??
Clutch is about £100, but will need to be fitted by my garage, and I don't really have the equipment to do the job, 4 post ramp for example

dread to think what the labour cost would be to replace the clutch on a crv,
