Is there an east way of working out if a flywheel is from an early or face-lift 325i?

I've bought a second hand one and can't figure out which one it is. Would like to make sure I get the right starter motor as it says on wiki the early and late types are different.

Thanks

If your car has crank sensors in the gearbox you will need the flywheel with a peg next to the ring gear, if you have a front crank sensor either will do

Thanks Dan. So if i'm using it for a M52 conversion, either one will do the job and I can use the late type starter motor?

Yes that is correct, if you didnt already know I lighten these to 5.5kg which gives needed clearance to the M52 engine and also helps the engine rev faster 8)

Ah great. The flywheel I have bought has already been lightened, but I do need an exhaust manifold for the conversion so will drop you a PM about that.

Thanks again :D
