Yes..brand new battery
Got the car started by using wire in pins 11&14 in diagnostic port.
Some wire issue somewhere I think ...baffled to be honest

Are all the cables to the battery secure?

Brian is the best person to advise but I'd check the battery connections, alternator connections and the earth strap for corrosion. If it started by bridging 11 and 14 in the socket then work your way backwards

where was your car parked as if in a barn or somewhere rural then check to see if the mice haven't been at your car.

That was the rare M3 up for sale at £3k as the owner didn't know what it was and after a £15k restoration was sold for £89950 at auction, wasn't it?aimlessrock wrote:i looked at a car some years ago in a barn/outbuilding and spotted rat/mouse turds in the bay..i walked away.,Satan wrote:Brian is the best person to advise but I'd check the battery connections, alternator connections and the earth strap for corrosion. Sounds like your starter motor may have become jammed/seized. Try putting the car into a low gear (2nd is usually best) and rock the car back and forth to try and free it off.
Failing that, whack the starter with a mallet.

Fuse 17, 18, 19 and 20 are fed through the un loader relays ( K5 and K7 ) which reduce power consumption during cranking - leaving all the power from the battery to start the car - so your radio going off is pretty normal, unless wired not to do so, electric windows are disabled too.
If you can start with the diagnostic connector, you need to check pin 30 on the ignition switch for power ( main feed to switch which is un fused direct from battery positive) then check pin 50 black yellow cable for power when key is in start position - then chase the black yellow cable as it passes through C200 and C101 as well as a splice where it splits off to the starter and the diagnostic plug.
