After my trip to Turino, the under bonnet insulation has parted company with the metal again.

Ripping it out to replace - horrible sticky glue and all - anyone done this and cleaned back to the paint, or stuck new insulation on the old glue??

Yep, as the foam had sat in the loft for a few years I used some 3M foam adhesive to keep some parts in place, need to check to see if in this heat it hasn't fallen off.

Used WD40 sparingly to take the old glue off.

OK, Bonnet off - 4 hours, gallon of petrol - all done.

Needed more than WD!

Hug gobs of old evo-stick or worse, about 4 layers of different goop, what an 'orrible job.

Off to Dortmund for a beer or ten!

So was the one piece molded under bonnet insulation panel only fitted on American exports, never in Europe??

part number 51488103380.

Bit jealous mate - they look much more tidy than the stick on's - remember my 525i E34 had one, looked very smart.

Think they were fitted to the 325e, both in Europe and the US. Since the UK didn't get that model we don't see many of them.
