clicking Noise from glove box and car wont start
Moderator: martauto
ok at first i thought it was a issue with my alarm/immobiliser but pretty sure its not once unarmed i go to start the car it doesn't even get to the turning over point it, all the lights turn on go to turn the key to start and all i get is a clicking sound from the glovebox area and also can feel a similar vibration from the side of the auto gear stick console then after about 10 attempts switching the key on and off it starts straight away any ideas pls? is there some kind of control module relay which is causing this issue ?

Probably something to do with the auto box 'P' (park) selector switch and/or associated relay to activate the ignition system.
Have you tried waggling the gearstick while in the 'P' position while attempting to start it?

Gearbox or engine mounts could be shot and put the inhibitor switch on the auto box out of place, it can be bypassed.
As mentioned above, next time you try to start the car try "wiggling" the gear lever but do be aware that when you are stuck in a queue traffic the car can decide to "inhibit" and the car will cut out VOE.

OK guys i have a new Battery bosch S5 just 3 weeks ago changed the gearbox mounts and they were shot new gujibo arb rubbers tried selecting the other gears and in the other gear wont even switch on or attempt to turn over so where is the relay to for the ignition system ? is that the one that could be clicking where the glovebox is ?
Just a update i have been told the clicking noise is coming from the inhibitor switch located on the Auto gear selector which could be faulty or the only other possibility is the starter motor has anyone ever changed a inhibitor switch before and procedure please ...Thanks

I bypassed mine, there are two wires you need to join together behind d the glove box. Can't remember which ones, though, yellow and brown spring to mind but don't go cutting anything.j4gz wrote:Just a update i have been told the clicking noise is coming from the inhibitor switch located on the Auto gear selector which could be faulty or the only other possibility is the starter motor has anyone ever changed a inhibitor switch before and procedure please ...Thanks
