m30 + m10 manual 5-speed ?

does anyone know if a 5 speed m10 manual gearbox will fit an m30 block ? i'm sure i've read something about it on here but that was years ago .

I've done two M30 conversions with M10 5 speeds. It bolts right up, using the E30 320i prop and gear linkage. The main issue is what to do with the clutch and flywheel.
My first one I used the M10 flywheel with an uprated M10 CG paddle clutch (215mm from memory), it seemed OK but I wasn't 100% sure it wasn't slipping at times, I sold the car before I really put any use on it.
My 2nd (and current) one uses an S14 M3 flywheel which is the correct starter tooth ring gear for an M10/M30 starter but allows a 228mm M20 clutch. Of which I have a solid unsprung paddle clutch which is a bit of a nightmare to use at slow speeds, I may one day swap into a sprung paddle clutch instead. I believe early M10s (2002 / early E21 era) used 228mm flywheels too.
The box itself is fine with M30 powerz.

I'm going to be running an m10 box on my m30 unless a reasonably priced m30 box comes up in the next year or so. I've got all the 320i bits i need but i'm just deciding on what to do about the clutch.
I'm looking to add power to my engine after a year or so of running it so maybe the m10 fly and clutch set up may be a waste of time for the future.
If I was to go for an s14 flywheel, for the price of it I may as well get an m30 box and run that instead..
At least with an m30 clutch set up you won't have to have such an aggressive stage whatever clutch if you're looking to increase the power.
