Hi

I have an E30 318i 4 door saloon and am having some issues with the sunroof.
The guide on the track in the driver side has dislodged which means the track rail does not pick up the headliner guide when sliding. It does lift up but doesn't slide backwards.

The motor is moving and makes a sound when I try and slide it back but doesn't turn. I have tried manually cranking it using the allen key but doesn't move.

Because it's not sliding back I cannot un-clip the headliner to get to the bolts and remove the cover.

I have attached some images to show whats happening.

Any help would be really good.

Hi Mart

Thanks for the reply

Yes I've had a look and it also seems like sunroof issues are common but it's the fact that I can't seem to move mine back which is causing the bigger problem.

Pop the sunroof up as high as poss and try to pop off the metal clips on the front corners, then work on the inners. Wooden spoon or some other non marking tool pref wood or plastic may be better to use.

The silver runners inside are like a knife edge, don’t ask how I know!!!

Thanks for the help BHadley!

I managed to pop of off the sunroof headliner and slide it back into the roof.

But the sunroof still doesn't move backwards (motor is still working).
Just wanted to ask whether anyone knows what would cause this?
I will probably remove the sunroof top panel and then see if the track/ runner can be aligned properly.
This may allow it to move back?

I've attached to some more photos.

Any help will be good. Thanks
