Hi guys, I have a 2014 F31 I had an issue with some tyre valve caps that managed to weld themselves to the valves. My mate in trying to get them off managed to rip the head off the valve completely. RAC came and put a replacement standard valve in for me at the roadside but I need to sort out the tyre pressure monitors.
Is the valve and tyre monitor all one piece and therefore the whole lot needs replacing, or do I just need a new valve fitting to the exisiting sensor and refitting? Will the car need programming again to accept either a new or replacement sensor?
TIA

If you buy one from BMW you get the whole sensor that needs programming and you will need a decent diagnostic machine to programme it. But you can strip the valve from complete unit and just swap valve itself. They’re about £80 from BMW.
Have you got a picture as I’m pretty sure they’re identical to Vauxhall ones which are about half the price.

So much aggro for such a silly thing, what was ever wrong with one of those pressure guages like a pen?? Are people so thick these days they don't know how to check or visually tell if their tyres are ok?

X5 V8 for thrills, CRV for chills, Range Rover P38 V8 for sooooo much aggravation...

but my 5yr old knows exactly what one of the pen type pressure gauges are & how to use it, even if he does let my tyres down when he tries to "help".
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

Has the sensor itself been rattling around the wheel?
