So I've been an owner of an E30 and a member here for quite a while.
I have a 1988 chromie cabriolet 325i auto in alpine White which has sat in my parents garage for 7 years.
Upon getting it out of the garage it needed new fuel lines, fuel pump, battery and radiator to make it run again.
I ended up buying a new fuel tank too though upon removal my old one wasn't as bad as I thought so I needn't have bothered!
I've removed the rear subframe frame and trailing arms, had the subframe powdercoated and put new bushes everywhere along with springs, discs, pads, handbrake cables, cv boots, top mounts, fuel filler boot.
The UJs on the prop were a bit notchy so I had new UJs put on it and fitted a new CSB and doughnut and gearbox mounts.
I've come to pay similar attention to the front end and have had the subframe powdercoated and have all new bushes, top mounts, engine mounts, track rod ends etc.
The offside wing was very rusty at the bottom so I have bought a new one and have found a hole in the inner wing. I haven't done any welding before and I don't have a welder.
I also found a hole in the floor just in front of the driver's seat on the floor pan and just to the left of the brake pedal on the bulkhead. The battery tray is also rusty. I've ordered a new battery tray to replace it.
The bottom of the sill where the wing came off has surface rust so not sure what is best to do with that.
As I've not done any welding before I'd like to get someone else to do it.
Does anyone have any recommendations in the east Midlands (I am in Nottingham) of places that have worked on e30s before and do a decent job and don't charge astronomical prices?

Cheers

James

Hello James,
I'm in Nottingham too with a 325i Cab Chromie (manual!)
Sounds like you have done a lot there so far.
I have had mine off the road a while having some work done which also included several bits of welding.
I have a resto thread in members e30s with several photos of some of the welding.
I would recommend Danthe on here to get your welding done mate, he uses a guy who is very good.
Its a bit far away over cannock way but he can be trusted and his work is renowned on here.
I would drop him a line if I were you. He can get your car recovered over to his place and reasonable cost too if its not road worthy.

Would be good if Dan could post about his work etc

Seems to a be steady number of posts from zoners looking for a known and trusted garage who know these turds.

I think he has 27000+ posts, I'm sure some of those cover his doings!
