I've had my TB off again this morning and adjusted the TPS. It's made a slight difference, it now revs to about 6k.
My multi-meter doesn't have a beep, so I'm back to trying to adjust the prehistoric way.
Damn sensitive these TPS's, aren't they? I'm sure that if I adjust any more, it won't click.
It's a pain in the rear having to keep taking the TB off, so now I know what the problem is, I may just live with it.
Thanks everyone
Stuart.

Your meter has a resistance range. Set it to the lowest range and use that instead. 0 ohms = equivalent of beep.
You shouldn't have any trouble setting up the TPS. As long as it goes from zero ohms to infinity just off the throttle stop it's done.

Im a little confused over this, as i cant see how this will restrict the rev limit.
If the TPS was not getting to WOT Then the AFM will tell the ECU how much air is getting and will then let the engine rev to the limit. After 80% open throttle the ECU doesnt take any signals from the AFM (+80% is WOT anyway) so what im getting at is you can rev to the limit in first gear and not be in WOT (<80% open TB).
I know these TPS units suffer from Evaporated oil which condenses over that area and after a while can get into the switch and affect the contacts and the signal sent to the ECU. If one were to knock the TPS off you can see this as the switch is marked with a yellow paint at the factory.

If you say the engine 'cuts' at the new rev limit I have a hard time beleiving its the TPS. That'd surely just mess up the load/rpm map and make it run badly above/below a certain throttle position or something.
Have you tried the crank position sensor? If it's weak, it has trouble telling the 'peaks' from the 'troughs' at high rpm (I'm generalising a touch here - not even sure what type of sensor an M20 has, just assuming its the usual Bosch hall sensor)
Try cleaning the face of your cranks pos sensor or swapping it for one that you know works..
Hope this helps!.

Believe me, it does......Demlotcrew wrote:Im a little confused over this, as i cant see how this will restrict the rev limit.
I've had another go today. Still had to do it by the click method 'cos my multi-meter's not worth a
I now have a 6200rpm rev limit.
I think I'll leave it at that, 'cos I can't be bothered keep taking the TB off - I've done it three times in the last two weeks.
Peak power is 6000rpm anyway, so there isn't much to be gained spinning-up beyond that.

Thing is tho, the RPM limit is controlled by the ECU not the TPS.essbee wrote:Believe me, it does......Demlotcrew wrote:Im a little confused over this, as i cant see how this will restrict the rev limit.

yes,but if there isnt enough fuel and air getting into the engine to rev that high, then it will max out early!
