Engine check light on a 320i convertible

320 i G REG 89 , has an engine check light on it . does that mean its a non u.k model ?
apparently it goes out when the brake is depressed is that normal.

bit confused here as i thought it was only the U,S models that had an engine check light . its right hand drive

There is a light on the panel that goes out when you press the brake can't remember what it was for lol but it is normal.

It is the brake light check.

Goes off when you press the brake if the brake lights are working.

Some MOT testers just aren't that bright! They fire up the engine to take the car off of the ramp, see this flashing light "check" in front of them, and assume it's an engine fault light. Goes off as they leave the ramp, but they don't realise that's because they've just pushed the brake pedal.

oh yerh thanks for all your replies , I didn,t realise its on the overhead , I saw one at a show yesterday on a 6 pot. I suppose thats what comes of having 2 cylinders missing, its not the only thing missing on mine lol.
the cars had an offer on it now , so don,t suppose he come back to me. i do know what you mean about some but not all m,o,t men.
