Hi there, my 86 auto 325i came out of SORN yesterday and passed its MOT. Last year had new cylinder head. Drove it today, ran all fine, not overheating, (although coolant light came on) and as I went to look at the coolant level saw this leak. I have minimal mechanical knowledge- what is this? Seems to be coolant, because it’s pinky brown on the tissue when I wipe around. Any idea what’s going on? Should I worry?

I'm guessing it's something on the under engine splash tray thing.

Yeah-that’s right it’s pooling on that tray. Also it’s wet above- don’t know what the part is I’ve circled

Edited images to show where it is

Almost a bit of both- feels like coolant probably splashed on oily area- wet but almost slightly greasy?

It's a bit out of the way for power steering fluid. Cam seal? Check the front of the block for a trail.

its difficult to see in the image. top up coolant level, mark level with cold engine . then check regularly to see if you are losing any coolant from the radiator/ header tank or hoses. if your coolant light came on, do this first.

does it only leak when engine is running ?

power steering and auto box fluid is reddish brown. could be coming from a split pipe somewhere

check the engine oil for level, note, and check after a drive.

sometimes you need to clean everything down to see where its leaking from.
