My girlfriend is recovering from a back injury and finds the passenger seat in the E30 to be too low slung and unsupportive. It's the bottom part of the seat that's the main issue.

I've put a fair bit of work into this little '84 M10 recently.
Engine is running sweet, new shocks and springs are in and the roof rack is sorted.
I'm loving driving it right now bit it's looking like our upcoming Donegal road trip will be in my other car - a 2001 1.4 corolla!
I'm sure you all can appreciate the seriousness of the situation.

I don't have the time or cash to find new seats so I'm looking for a cheap mod that might improve things.
No springs are broken, So I'm thinking maybe some high density foam could be inserted to firm up the seat.

Is this worth trying?
Does anybody have any advice on other low cost solutions?

In my opinion, why not speak doctor/ NHS if he or they can suggest any short term fix with the seat until your girlfriends back fills better,I hope that's some sort of help good luck.

Cheers AH.
I don't think the doc could help.
The seats in newer cars, even our corolla, are fine.
I think it's just the old style of spring seat in my e30 is not as firm.

Looks interesting, but I suspect that on the car seat, that will reduce stability even further.
Might suggest she tries one for the office chair though. Thanks

My girlfriend uses one at work as she spends a lot of time in a chair either hand stitching or on a sewing machine, also have a look here https://www.sittingwell.co.uk/car-seat-supports/

The other option is she sits in the back or you leave her at home and go on your own winkeye

I wonder if the Corolla seat would fit the BM??

a few zoners have added the seats from an E36/E46 - but this will in involve the fabrication of some bespoke brackets.

You mention Donegal- assume your in NI/Eire?- if so Will may be a man who could help as he has a breakers yard of BMW's in Dungannon.

Good suggestion...I'm in Ireland. E46's still seem to be plentiful in breaker's yards all over.
The OE Pacific Blue seats are in such good nick it would be a shame to change them for something non standard...But a spare passenger seat would be useful to have.

This is worth a try I reckon ....I could probably cut some adapter plates to do this.

Hopefully in a few months she'll be cool with the old seats again anyway.

Tbh, we have no concrete plans just yet. It's a part of the country I don't know very well so I plan to do a bit of exploring for 4 days or so. I want to see the Slieve League Cliffs for definite.

It's also part of my plan to take in some of the country's best roads this year.

It's not a fast car I know but I'm enjoying the fact that I have to work it hard to drive at my pace. And the M10 seems to enjoy it too. :D
I'm not a very skilful driver tbh so on a twisty road the 318 is ideal for me.

I`m sure someone has fitted a set of e46 front seats in without too much hassle, my sons has even lumber support as well.
You can pick them up for next to nothing.

Mart.
Only the E46 cab left now.
Just got too old.
