I MAY need to get a category 2 alarm installed for insurance purposes...does anyone know anyone who won't charge the earth in London, and also not do a disgusting job of the wiring? Not keen to play around with that and the BMW one...

Does anyone else have the BIGGEST BALLACHE in the world getting their E30 insured!?

I assume the premiums are on there way up due to the spate of thefts, mines in a garage on a limited mileage policy for now........

Where in London are you as know of an installer in Alperton.

I think I paid £248 for the E30 with an agreed value of £10k but then again it lives in a garage.

Mine's gone up a massive 0.5% (or £4) this year compared to last. Less than inflation, so arguably a decrease.

£398, mods declared with like-for-like replacement with £15k agreed value. Garaged, postcode band C (although on the last policy, I moved it from a B to a C, and they said they treated the whole area the same). With A-Plan, who're underwritten by Markerstudy. (Hopefully Monday's MOT will be as easy as the insurance renewal...)

I think I was looking at about £180, before I started mentioning the stroked engine.

Can't help with the installation though, sorry.

Annoying thing is that an E30 fitted with a Cat 2 alarm/immobiliser is only marginally safer from theft, by anyone that know what they're doing, than one left with the doors unlocked and the key in the ignition, but if that's a condition of insuring it........

With the comments from Brian i removed a cat 1 alarm some years ago from my cabby in about 20 minutes.

Cheers all - moved to Sky to avoid the alarm issue. Head bangingly frustrating dealing with insurance companies...
