Looking to buy a decent trolly jack and jack stands...

Lots of varying products, prices and reviews out there...

Any "proven" recommendations much appreciated

Thanks in advance

You'll need one of these for when you jack the car up and place it on stands to lie there viewing the beauty of your exhaust. ;o))))

I have this too - and it's good. Only complaint I've got is that it can twist slightly if it's not perfectly straight, and (with my lowered daily) the bolts can catch on the rails, and it won't collapse fully until you straighten it up.

I'd buy another though.

I've this one, and another, but this one is great. It's stable and it is lower than standard.

If you're getting stands, the folding ones are not as good as the 4 foot ones.

This shape is the one to go for . . . https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=axle+ ... 2396250193

if you intend to get axle stands as well then have a look at machine mart.

you can get a pair of 3 tonne stands from £28 upto £50 for 8 tonne stands,
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

also when it comes to jacks, i've found a pair of farm jacks to be some of the best, if they can left a proper 4x4 or tractor then they can lift an e30 with ease.

Thanks all... went with the SGS one...

Just needed to lift the car enough to do some fettling here and there, like brake pads, under body rust converting with Fertan etc... if I got involved any more than that I would be sitting with an unusable car...

I have a Jack, but he isn't strong enough to lift my cars :)

I have had a Halfrauds trolley jack for about ten years, been pretty good to be honest, need to top up the hydraulic fluid though as it runs out of puff about 3/4 height.

My first jack was a cheap Halfords one, the wheels bent then I went SGS and gave the other one away.

I suppose you wind your son up with "what do you call a man with a car on his head, Jack"
