I've committed the ultimate crime. I've locked my keys in the car , I was checking the central locking system then put the key in the ignition then closed the door , which is now locked .both doors are locked put half closed so there is a gap albeit small but a gfap all the same . Any advice please , and no I don't belong to a breakdown service as the car is currently being rebuilt.

Thanks

Probably the easiest thing is to remove the rear windscreen and climb in or if the bonnet is open and the battery is in the engine compartment, disconnect and then reconnect the terminals and it may open the doors.

If you can get some packing strap through the door gap and you are a ninja, you may be able to grab and pull the door handle. In my experience it's very difficult.

To remove a screen, take the cover off where the two ends of the seal insert meet, pull the insert out all the way round and then put a window grabber or two on the glass and pull.

E30s were the last BMW to feature mushroom headed internal door lock buttons, which makes breaking in easy, as long as the deadlocks eren't on. Fashion a hook from stiff wire to fit around the lock button, carefully lever out the top of the door frame, and keep it out with a small wooden wedge, then drop the wire hook in, around the lock button and pull it up.
You may or may not have permanently bent the top of the door frame, and if it is, then simply bend it back again. It's only thin steel, and no permanent damage will occur.
DON'T remove the rear screen, if you ever want the demister elements to work again - you will almost certainly break off the connectors. If you do decide to remove glass, then make it the front screen.
Finally, get yourself a spare key!

Use the spare key to open the car.

Thats fine if the lock hasn't been replaced in the meantime as you only have one key, you may get a key that doesn't work. I hope that was "useful"
