One more thing sorted:
I have had H&R anti roll bars fitted to my E30 for a few years now and due to the increased diameter and slightly different shape compared to the oem ones the wheels have always caught on them when at full lock. I have Hartge 16" wheels and have tried both 215 and 205 tyres and they both catch on the arb.
It has previously always managed to get through the mot (even though it shouldn't have) but the last time it went in for one they did flag it up as a fail, therefore I thought I should something about it.
I discovered that steering angle limiters are available from BMW for the E36 (part no. 32 11 1 140 479) so I thought I would give them a go:
I fitted these but was still having rubbing issues. So I worked out the thickness of limiter that I would need (using some cycle headset spacers that I had lying around), then had some bits laser cut from the required 5mm steel plate and welded them to the E36 limiters.
And then fitted them between the rack and tie rods:
I do now have a greater turning circle, but no more rubbing:
I also changed to E46 tie rods while I was at it as the ones I had on there (E30 ones I think) were not vented and were destroying the rubber gaiters.
Almost ready for an mot now...
