I'll start then.

In need of a spares vehicle to plunder I found this amulance parked in a field. After local enquiries at the pub I traced the main owner to London, but who had local relatives and a deal for £50 was done,

Dragged it back to the barn I was renting and parked it up. Sorted.

Anyway, this thing sat there, and in the early days of being self employed I used to work late a lot. At the barn was no outside lighting and whenever I needed a wazz I used to hate going out there as the this ambulnace gave me real chills, now I am Mr Skeptical about such things but couldn't shake the horrible feeling I got around it especially at night. At this stage I had no idea of its previous history.

Fast forward several years (long after I had scrapped it) and I was watching a document on the Hungerford Massacre, and bugger me there it was gave me goose bumps!

Maybe after all that horror something stayed with the ambulnace, who knows??

Some pics.....

My van, this had the front axle from the ambulance plus various other bits....

Image

The number plate I still have from the ambulance...

Image

The offending vehicle, still had the writing on the sides and the crest, bit faded but still there. The blue lights on the front were still there but broken. Did get it to run once, had a 2.3 petrol engine which was rare in the van form......

Image

There are other shots of it on documentaries but I can't be arse to trawl through hours of footage, you'll have to do with this one.

On the number plate it has Pilcher Greene, just googled it, they do the conversions to ambulances, seems the number plate is original too.

I haven't had anything like that to add. Other than, my mates uncle was an undertaker and he used to park the hearse out the back of my mates house. Was a bit creepy having it outside the house!

I don't understand your first post. . .can you clarify? The van in the photo has a different reg to the plate your holding in the second photo and it has different number of side windows to the screenshot of the YouTube clip. Did I miss something?

i've seen what shotgun does to the chest at point blank range

also been the one to clean the room afterwards.

& before anyone thinks otherwise, it was an ex's dad who committed suicide 8O
it's an image that will stay with me for life.

as for the ambulance, there is an old raf base in lincolnshire thats been converted into the local council offices.

i had a job as a subby to clear out some of the old raf buildings behind the main one, one of them was the old hospital, most wasn't to bad but the operating room was a different matter, out side was an old ambulance & everyone who went near it said the same thing, there was something lingering in it, even when it waswarm outside if you went near it you went freezing cold even more so if you got inside it, what ever it was it didn't want you there.

the O.R was just as bad, looked like it had just been left as is after someone had been in for an op, tools left lying around & what looked like dry blood around the place,

that was just as bad for the feeling something was there, no matter what the weather is as always freezing in there.

worst car i've seen was in a scrappys, the car had a collision with a wagon carrying ball bearings, when they hit each other all the bearing flooded the car crushing the driver & passenger, there was blood all over the inside & down the doors,

safe to say after the inquest they crushed the car.

surprising whats out there when you look.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

Not me but a guy a few roads down from me has one of the Only Fools and Horses Regals that he took in payment as he was owed money, was also the guy who confessed to the Gill Dando murder and was basically wasting Police time.

Jesus (Jesus!) that ambulance is badass! So.. here goes (Not quite the same but) apparently I have a secret love of funeral cars, this here Granada was owned by a local funeral company who sold it off along with a Dorchester limo and a Dorchester hearse! obviously out of respect for the past weepy occupants we decided the best thing to do was put six batteries and two pumps in the boot and ruin it..

one noteable evening I was three-wheeling along the seafront when a cop pulled alongside.. the confusion as to what they were going to do with (super polite and law abiding) me and the (now back on all four wheels) Granny was pretty amusing.. they couldn't decide whether it broke any laws or not.. in the end it was a "f**k off and take it home.. " luckily....

Mac Daddy Tom in his bagged Dorch' on the seafront :D

Always fancied a hearse too, but never actually got around to buying one. Not sure my clients would like it to much parked outside their properties either!

Thanks for the pictures

Back in 2009, I had some spare time on my hands being mostly unemployed that year due to the financial crisis, and to while away my time, I bought an unfinished 'dole money cruiser' project, a 1965 Morris Minor 2-door with 2-litre Fiat twin cam engine & 5-speed gearbox conversion for £1,000.

Soon had it up and running, though it took a few more months of sorting the snags and making a wiring loom, etc. before it could hit the road, but it was an enjoyable project that only cost about £1,500 in total (done on a very tight budget) and made for quite an interesting ride:

Sadly, I had to sell it to pay the landlord's incessant bills. :(
