Hi, just gone to try and start my Cabriolet and it's no-go!
Turn the key and there is a click but no start?
The gearbox cog light is coming on I've noticed as well.
Could it be some sort of Auto inhibit switch?
Battery is new and fully charged.

Wiggle the gear lever.

Turn the headlamps on. What happens to them when you try to start the engine?
Shouldn't be any clicks at all if the auto inhibitor switch is the problem.

Fitted my spare battery today, it's brand new, showing 13V on the volt meter.
There is a loud click, from the glove box area but it won't turn over.
When I said inhibitor, I was talking about the cog light, perhaps there is a fault
with the gearbox that is stopping it starting?

Tried waggling the gear lever, no good.

No tried headlights yet, no battery on at moment. Try tomorrow.

Tried starting it again with original battery charged up and installed.
Lights on, no dimming at all when key is turned.
Suspect starter motor?

Open up the diagnostic socket. Make sure gear selector is in P, identify pins 11 and 14 and short them together with a piece of wire. This should engage the starter motor and crank the engine, starting it if the ignition is on.
