Does anyone know if the 540/740 calipers front and rear fit under 16" hartge splits (or borbet b for that matter)?

Are there any cross section cut it's available to download and check?

I am not sure - but I know the 840 Brembos are a favorite with e36 front set up as they bolt straight on. Plus they fit under 17" because I had them on my old 36. I also know the 540/740 look the same, but do not bolt straight onto the e36 set up and need some modification to get them on.

The other bit I would like to share is - they are all sh1te. BMW used these particular Brembo calipers on only a few models and then stopped. If you are planning on using this set up, they are good and are not too expensive, but you should be aware the calipers do not cope well with the heat and need to be refurbished regularly. Seals etc. do an ebay search for the calipers and you will see more auctions for the refurbishment kit than the actual calipers.

Just my 2p worth. :)

I don't think these are brembo though, they look similar to the E30 calipers just much larger. They are still a single piston design

Oh, my bad, I wasnt sure what you meant by ". . .540/740 calipers getting and rear for under 16 . . . " I was sure I had seen a front set of 740 brembo set in the past and they weren't a bolt on for the 36.

Hows the Touring going? Any updates?

the auto correct is just guess work!!! lol. When I was working on a big brake upgrade they were for my track slag . . S50'd e36 compact!! it was a track car = hard use a road car would most likely need less of an interval of between refurbishment.

This may not be useful, but I ran 540 front brakes with Hartge one piece 16" wheels for a while. They did fit but the clearances were very tight, so tight in fact that the wheel weights had to be put on the outside of the wheel as they caught on the calipers when on the inside.

Going to put the whole front setup up for sale when I get round to it...
