Hi guys,
I recently bought an e30 that was being turned into a track car. The sunroof has had a panel welded in. Ideally id like to get the sunroof back working. I understand I need thr casette and other sunroof parts. Can anyone let me know if this is possible ? Ive attached a picture of the sunroof at present.
Thanks

I daresay it's possible, if you are determined enough...
What does it look like from above?

If you can find a non sunroof headlining then don't bother even thinking about it,the sunroof is a crap design and can cause no end of issues plus the extra weight from all the bits and bobs.....ask most on here and they would probably agree that a non sunroof car is more desirable.

Totally disagree - the sunroof design is a work of art, and works beautifully and reliably, although BMW underestimated just how damp it is in the UK.jcm325 wrote:If you can find a non sunroof headlining then don't bother even thinking about it,the sunroof is a crap design and can cause no end of issues plus the extra weight from all the bits and bobs.....ask most on here and they would probably agree that a non sunroof car is more desirable.
All the roof problems are caused by condensation, either from generally damp air in the car, or evaporation from the sunroof internal gutters, coupled with BMW's total lack of any anti corrosion proofing in the area.
In response to the OP, nothing appears to have been damaged , but the only practical way of reinstating a working roof, is to get hold of the complete roof from a broken for parts car, and transferring the many parts over, including the roof panel, which has lost its internal frame.
You'll also need the drain tubes that go down the A and C pillars from a breaker, if they have disappeared from your car.
