Hi All, First time poster. the back box on my 318is is hanging off so, I'm doing a bit of research. Has any one fitted the Fritz full SS system? Searching here, there seems to be few options for the M42. Thanks in advance...[/b]

Hi, yes I have a fritz stainless system on my M42 converted touring, I'm really happy with it, it looks pretty subtle and is fairly quiet at low revs but does get pretty loud when you put your foot down

Sounds good. They do a chip too, for reasonable money, i might go the whole hog. I too want to keep the car looking original, but have the option to have it howl at high revs!

Yeah, I've got the chip too, they claim you get around 165bhp with the exhaust and the chip, not sure how accurate that is as I've never had it tested but it revs really nicely and keeps up with modern cars pretty well, and yes looks pretty subtle too, the tail pipe is not much bigger than stock, just a bit shinier.

I must find out if there is someone local to me who could dyno test the car before I make the few upgrades. It would be interesting to see what power it has now (145,000 miles) and again after. I must say, I do like the way the engine loves to rev! great little car.

165bhp from an M42 without major internal work is unrealistic IMO, a 20% increase in power is a lot. The standard exhaust is highly efficient and modifying it doesn't provide an increase in performance. Fifteen years ago when these were much newer cars a rolling road remap on a good engine maxed at about 150bhp.

Yes, I did think 165 was pretty optimistic, would be interested to hear what the figures are if you do get your car dyno tested
