whatever engine you are putting into the cab
(and I think I know what it is gonna be)
dont forget to source a catalytic converter for it mate
otherwise you could hit problems with the mot.
My Car is April '93 but as above, because its got a 'J' plate(private) the teasters think its '92tylerma wrote:july 92 onwards mate I believe
Steve's is a k plate

Agreed, they aint all as stupid as they look. Especially with the new computerisation of MOT's. As malcom said be aware that you could need a CAT.tylerma wrote:yes but dont forget the mot is computerised nowstevetigger wrote:Im ok with the MOT, As I found out......My car has a cat(or did until I took out the engine) but because the private plate is on a 'J' reg. Of course if you can prove that whatever engine you are putting in your cab is pre 92 then ignore the above. All depends on what engine you put in then. I think you could squeeze a nice 3 cylinder corsa engine in there, which will no doubt slip a cog on the timing chain.

Steve - don't forget to remove them engine shocks still attached to the cross member mate, could prove to be a right royal pain in the arse if you drop the new engine down on them!!
As for guessing the mystery - i'm going to guess a Nissan Supra turbo???
they go straight in on the original mounts
and a doner supra will cost you less than 1k (old style one).
Just a thought??
Neil.

the sr20 nissan/supra/jap crap engine swap is fairly popular in Oz. They get wrapped around trees and poles quite often, so the engines come up fairly cheap. So do the Jap half cuts. I think for about 1000aud you can get a decent TURBO supra/nissan engine and ecu.. so roughly Ԛ£400 for a complete engine, ready to go, just needing transplant.

Neil - are you saying the engine in the pic below from a MK3 Supra 3.0L turbo drops in without any real bother?

Nissan made the 200SX.
That's why the Supra engine in the picture has a Toyota badge...

Nissan - who said Nissan LOL
just beat myself for stupidity - - - - - - - - - - - Toyota supra is the one
Never seen one in the flesh but, been told numerous times that they fit in directly onto the cross member mounts - i think i might have ago at this conversion in the future, cheap as chips to pick up a Donner motor (must be the old one) as well and a turbo that's fitted rather than having to retro.
Sorry again guys for the miss led info but, isn't that why they put rubbers on the end of pencills?
Neil.
Pic for ref;
