I have been looking for a Baur for some time, I have found this one which is reasonably local, but, it seems a bit (lot) steep. I cannot find any info on previous MOT's etc as it's been an Isle of Man car. does anyone know anything of its previous history.

That's a lovely looking car but `onest Ron.....the price ??
If it`s as good as the price, have a look and make it a "benchmark" .
A few years down the road this will happen but maybe not right now.
Mart.

ah, thank you for the link, but I want an automatic Baur in mint condition which I can keep standard as a "high days and holidays car" and just service it. Preferably for sale in the North as I travelled to see too many dogs a few years back when looking for a Mk1 Golf Cabriolet auto (I still have nightmares!
)
I have enough work with my Mk 1 Escort to take on another minor resto, I want a fuel and go car at the moment.

That is expensive and the dealer must be trying it on but the mileage means that its sat around furlong lengths of time but if you are interested give it a good going over as lots of part degrade over time.

That is a concern, oil seals, brake seals etc don't take kindly to lack of use and I wouldn't be surprised if the tyres are as old as Gods dog. I think I might bear it in mind and see if he still has it in the New Year. I think he has had it about a year at least already.

Can I just ask a question John,is there a reason you've chosen on a Baur opposed to a factory cab,is it just a matter of chose.

ah, I'm 6'6" with a left leg that has a habit of having its own agenda, all 36" of it. The factory cab has a strengthener on top of the sill, I catch my left foot getting in and out of the car. The Baur, due to it's construction doesn't require the extra rib on its sill. I discovered this last spring when I found a very nice cab, but I was disappointed when getting in and out. This also is why I also want an automatic.
I damaged my back a few years ago and some days I can drive a manual, some days it hurts my left leg using a clutch, some days I cannot feel a clutch, but an automatic covers all days.

I'm 6ft 3 and my cabby isn't cramped for me. Baur's are ugly compared to a convertible IMO.
If you do buy it, I have a Baur rear parcel shelf I'd like to move ona˜€

When my left leg is being awkward I have difficulty lifting it over the sill strengthener, I would already have a Cabby in the garage were it not for this. I had not considered a Baur until I found this out, although I do like the versatility of the the Baur roof more.

Check it out, price is negational and we are entering a negative market and a dealer doesn't want to be stuck with none selling stock. I think he got a deal and is playing the market as the sales people do, ask the right questions and get the price down, I only charge 5% for my advice ;o))))BigJohn wrote:That is a concern, oil seals, brake seals etc don't take kindly to lack of use and I wouldn't be surprised if the tyres are as old as Gods dog. It's like playing poker, show now, or hold 'em until after the New Year when everyone is financially battered?

Hi mate, that Baur is about 5 mins away from me. Been up for sale for about 6 months. I can check it out if you like, I have a 'proper' 320i Cabriolet. Cheers Mike.

Hi Mike, that's very kind, but don't go out of your way, if you're passing and don't mind popping in I'd be obliged to you.
I sent an email and asked him why it is better than the one below at Vardys of which they state:
"we are confident that this is the best example available anywhere on sale today" and is 2k cheaper.
and he replied:
"Hello,
My car is better than theres, it has only done 29,000 miles and theres has done 64,000.
I would take £11k for my car, its well worth the extra £1,000 based on the mileage alone.
Kind Regards."

My Baur has never let me down and was my son`s choice of wedding car this year and lots of "normal" (lol) people asked me how much was it to hire ?
I have Never seen another one in the thirteen years of e30 ownership and just love their originality.

I think they're both overpriced IMO, you could buy an E46 M3 Cabrio for less than that!
I take it the Baurs suffer less from scuttle shake, due to the stiffer body?

I believe so, due to the Baur retaining most of the integrity from the original bodyshell.M3KUK wrote:I think they're both overpriced IMO, you could buy an E46 M3 Cabrio for less than that!

I could buy an E46, I could also buy a Jag V12 XJSC for similar money. That's why I'm wondering, "What makes these cars so special?"
I know I'm special because mummy told me so
