Hey All,

I've done a bit of searching on this but haven't found any clear answers. I'm going to be doing a bunch of running around in Eastern Europe / Russia over the next year, and was thinking it might not be the worst idea to fit some extra lights.

I've got a photo below of the kind of thing I'm thinking of. I'm happy to have someone else do the work for me - in fact with limited electrical experience it's probably the best way to go. That being said I'm not even sure where I'd start. Like which kinds of lights to get, mounting solutions, etc. Does anyone have experience with this? Any feedback or advice would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Dave

Not easy on an E30 but possibly a fitment behind the number plate like THIS. Have a look on the Demon Tweeks website for rally lights, Hella are good but you will need something a bit shallow. Have them wired via a relay to avoid voltage drop.If you are actually taking part in some event, check what you are allowed to run, there may be restrictions on the number of lights.

Oh cool, thanks for those links. Yeah I think something like those Hellas would be perfect. The car is a 1.8 Touring that I'm setting up for a lot of long distance rough road travel in Eastern Europe (and later North/South America when I move back home), so no plans to rally it.

Going on rough roads you perhaps need to consider a sump guard and tank guard.

Thanks, that's a good point. I ordered some Hella 500's today and some of their accessories. Doesn't actually look to hard to just mount it to the bumper. I also ordered a sump guard but couldn't find anything for a tank guard, but I suppose I could get one custom made. I'm still trying to decide if I should redo the suspension or leave the old stuff on... not sure which is better for rough roads, but I certainly don't want to lower the car.
