Fuel Filter Hoses

I recently changed my fuel filter and noticed I seem to have an extra hose from the photos and diagrams I have seen online.

It is about 5-6 inches and comes from the tank and goes nowhere just sits next to the fuel filter.

Is it some kind of breather pipe or something?

All seems to be working fine just concerns me that none of the photos or diagrams seem to have it!

Its a facelift 88 model.

That would be the line that goes to the carbon canister if fitted. Previous owner must of removed the line that runs along the underside of the car. Pipe must remain open not plugged.
