You need someone that knows. Not a job for a novice. Valves have to be closed for the rockers to be adjusted. Say its about a £60 job

The OP admits he's "kind of illexperienced to the mechanic scene", and has just changed the cambelt. If he changed the cambelt himself, the first thing I'd be checking is whether the crank and cam pulley timing marks align.

£60 is fine but I did double check them before I put it all back together and it runs well and revs high just nervous as it's new. I do bodywork most of the time a˜‚ cheers though

..you have changed the cambelt on a B25, but are looking for a mechanic to set the the clearances???
changing the belt, whilst logical is way more involved.- you sure it was the cam belt you changed?- did it go round the alternator?
Not trying to make anyone look a fool- but the M20 has more than one belt.
If it was the cam belt you changed -did you you change the tensioner?

Yeh haha it's alright. It's a m20b25 I did my research changed belt, tensioner and waterpump. Checked the tdc lines matched by eye cranked it 4 full revolutions before starting it. It was the 1st cambelt I've done but never looked into doing valve clearances. I have a video but not sure how to upload it to the zone. Cheers

Adjusting tappet clearances is an important part of a full service on a M20, but if they weren't tapping immediately before the cambelt change, then they shouldn't be tapping right afterwards.
Carefully check everything that was disturbed to do the cambelt change, such as ensuring the distributor cap is seated properly, the fan shroud isn't hitting the fan, etc.

I don't know if the engine was or was not tapping before the change as I bought the car seeing once and it needed a water pump so I changed the belt at the same time I will go back over it all. How hard is it to do clearances as I can do most things myself.
