My 89 Chromie will get charged but who the hell wants to drive in to London and pay, but my 2003 import Subaru is exempt.
Will be worse when the bring in the ultra low emissions zone, north south circuit then the M25 in the future, I think wood burners owned by the middle classes are polluting London much more then noxious cars.......

load of jason rollocks ship delivering a load of cars from europe to uk puts out more pollution than all cars aboard will put out in there entire life
just another tax
just another tax
Although im not sure if this statement is true i do agree in the logic. What about all the billionaires flying private jets etcHRH-squidlips_III wrote:load of jason rollocks ship delivering a load of cars from europe to uk puts out more pollution than all cars aboard will put out in there entire life

But i guess its a good thing reducing pollution in heavily populated areas as it does affect peoples health.
Not pleased that an e46 m3 is exempt but a smaller displacement 2.5 or 2.0 will be taxed
Its down to weather a car meets Euro 4 emissions standards or not an an E46 M3 is Euro 4 compliant where as an E30 (even when fitted with a cat, is not.tha881 wrote:[Not pleased that an e46 m3 is exempt but a smaller displacement 2.5 or 2.0 will be taxed
Hey Barry i thought only the later E46 M3's were euro 4 compliant there was a change in the emmisions & mpg on some of the 55 plate and 06 & 56 plate cars were euro 4 compliant, although we have a 54 plate and its not subject to the T charge but will not qualify for the ulez charge planned to come in effect later on. I need to know before i chop it in for a later year identical turd & part with a few £k to drive off in exactly the same turd. a™a
I see so we are using outdated euro legislation again!
E30 325i 248gkm
E46 M3. 328gkm
Im no scientist but surely two similar cars - 5 seats 4 wheels etc, why should i pay and they shouldn't?
I must say i do support measures to reduce pollution in london just questioning why older vehicles get hit every time even though their emissions can be less

The 92' 500SL is exempt. I'm guessing because its an import.bss325i wrote:Its down to weather a car meets Euro 4 emissions standards or not an an E46 M3 is Euro 4 compliant where as an E30 (even when fitted with a cat, is not.tha881 wrote:[Not pleased that an e46 m3 is exempt but a smaller displacement 2.5 or 2.0 will be taxed

Don't knock London lots of interesting stuff to do unless you want to drive during rush hour
Anyways, by 2020 they want to bring in Clean Air Zones and to get the owners of diesel cars to pay a "pollution fee" (TAX) in Leeds, Derby, Nottingham, Birmingham, London and Southampton.
Proposed cities are Newcastle, Hull, Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield, Stoke, Leicester, Coventry, Cardiff and Bristol, this is from a report back in 2016 so I assume it can all change.
The UK must be really desperate for cash as the motorist gets hit in the pocket again.

Well, they've got to pay for the Brexit bail-out and all the political procrastination in the meantime somehow...

This was thought out before the vote, most Governments run a pyramid scheme as I could not live in a perpetual debt cycle.
Hopefully all the smug gits that knock London can start paying their way.

What about your E30, whats the score with living with in zone still 90% with the T charge?LondonTom wrote:I live within the congestion zone so get a residents 90% discount.
Reality is, those who drive within the zone during the charging periods are going to pay regardless.
Simply a money making scheme.
Think they should charge the cyclists, think it will happen one day. Once they see more people using bikes than the buses and underground.

Cargo ships too... they are the worst and run on almost the, if not the raw left overs from the refinery.
Just did a quick search 1 cargo ship is equivalent to 50Million cars in one year lol thats a joke.

I used to live in Kensington when the Zone was extended and if I had a day off I had to pay for the whole week, I just hate giving the Government money for nothing.LondonTom wrote:I live within the congestion zone so get a residents 90% discount.

Yeah, that qualifies for the 90% discount.drakesmith wrote:What about your E30, whats the score with living with in zone still 90% with the T charge?LondonTom wrote:I live within the congestion zone so get a residents 90% discount.

The funny thing is, if everyone paid the congestion charge on time and no fines were issued, it would run at a huge loss.
