Hello Friends!

Crashed my car a while ago (not my fault and yes i'm fine thanks for asking), this left me with a broken front and rear bumper. After a lot of searching (i live in Holland and bumpers are scarce) i found a front bumper. It had some odd stains in the plastic bits, but the price was okay so i bought it.

Now i have tried removing em, but no succes so far. I also can't really find out what kind of stain it is. So could anyone help?
The things i've tried:
- Mildly scratching the stains (leaves me with a mildly scratched version of the same stain)
- White spirit
- Some common cleaning agents used in garages (brake cleaner, dasty degreaser)

All to no effect.

Anyone got an idea ?

Looks as if the plastic has lost it's pigment rather than been stained. You can pick up all 3 sections of the bumper trim from the dealer for less than 100 euros.

I'm not so sure about that. my previous bumper had some discoloration from the sun i guess, but this is too localised don't you think ?

i checked the trim pieces, and ebay prices bring me up to around 150€, so that would indeed be an option if i can't find a way to fix this.

Ebay is frequently more expensive than the dealer, although this is pre-facelift and I've only ever bought facelift so maybe it's more pricey.

Try using a heat gun on it. Experiment with a hidden area first of all.

If its not your fault shouldn't the other persons insurance be paying for the repairs?

That's right, But the thieves that work at the insurance company only gave me an X amount (which was almost enough for all of it). they do that because hypothetically if you were to sell your crashed car, you would still get some money for it.
