Good evening
I've got a small ingress of water into the front nearside foot well which appears to be coming from the door (2 door) it appears to be building up at the bottom of the door seal then flowing into the car. The seal is brand new OEM part and the difference when closing the door is palpable compared to the old seal but it hasn't cured the leak which existed before .Any advice please
Thanks
PS the carpet is out so I know thats where the water is coming in from

Sure it's not the plastic film behind the door card that's at fault?

Are the drainage holes in the door clear?

Also is it a tin top with a sunroof?

Yes there are no door cards or film fitted , the car is bare at the moment. It appears to be running down the seal then pooling and then running into the car .The car is parked with the nearside up on the kerb so it's not level. It has a sunroof with the drain hole sand elephant trunk clear .Brianmoooore wrote:Sure it's not the plastic film behind the door card that's at fault?

If there's no film on the door, water will get in. The importance of this film is usually underestimated by the DIY mechanic, and lack of, or not properly refitted, is responsible for many a wet carpet on all makes of cars.

Check the rubber trim around the quarter light as water comes in through there, as Brianmoooore stated the lack of the plastic film and door card means the water will drip in to the car instead of inside the door and exiting via the drain holes which are located to the back and front of the door.

Before condemning the door seal, you might take a look behind the glovebox at the rubber grommet where the electrics enter the cabin through the bulkhead. This is a bad spot on e30's for flooding the passenger footwell.

The glove box is out the interior is removed and it's not going back in until I can find the source , as I say they're both brand new OEM seals recently fitted . The water is pooling on the seal then over spilling into the footwell , not a grab amount but as we all know the amount of sound proofing attached to the carpet once the gets wet then it takes a life time to dry out .

Sit in the car and get someone to hose the car down to see where the water comes in from.
