This is probably the roughest thing Iv considered in a long time hence why I thought I'd ask as I'd rather not be killed.

I have picked up a set of wheels and semi slicks to run on my car with an agressive offset etc so I cannot afford to run spacing. Unfortunately the caliper carrier bar does not clear the hub of the wheel.

I have done some research etc and shaved a fairly heroic amount off of this to the point im not overly confident in it. I have however, done some research and with my own knowledge knowing that an e36 caliper for eg, does not have a carrier bar, would it be possible to remove the one off an e30 caliper safely or would this result in snapping?

I can upload pictures if this would help, however I basically see a few options

1: balls to the wall cut the bar out as online suggests it is mainly for manufacturing process and low stress, and many vehicles have carriers without them.
2: throw money at a big brake kit I intended on in the future to allow for extra clearance.
3: find some new wheels and possible have a similar issue again anyway.

I can't picture how the bar is fouling. Could you post a pic?

I've seen calipers/carriers shaved to accept wheels.

There's plenty of metal to trim off.

Pictures would help.

This is basically why spacing is no option

And you can see here how much I have already shaved off, there aint much left!

But the e36 for EG does even have a bar, it does however have a rattle clip

Well I went balls to the wall and cut the bracket but it still catches on the pad anyways so I will be looking for a BBK. Which I feel more comfortable doing anyway as I had visions of something going catastrophically wrong coming down Cairn O mount.

For anybody hoping to install Grids on 325 brake set up without spacers....You cant.
