hello,
so today I noticed the mile counter isn't working. will this likely be in the clocks or is there a sensor I can check first before trying to find some new clocks??

If the speedo. is working as it should, then the problem will be inside the speedometer unit itself, which is easily changed without replacing the rest of the cluster.
You don't say where you're located, but if it's somewhere significantly hotter than the UK, mthen the problem is likely to be failure of a small plastic gear or two, which are also easily replaced.

Once the cluster is out of the car, remove all the eight self tapping screws from around the edge of the back of the cluster, plus the one right in the middle, then ease the two halves apart. The speedo can then be removed by unscrewing the four slightly smaller self tappers on the rear, and pulling it out.
Check the soldering to the pins that connect it electrically to the main cluster circuit board, and the soldering on the speedo. board, especially the connections to the stepper motor for the odometer/trip meter.
I'm assuming neither the odometer or the trip meter are working.

only just got this done today. got the clocks out and then removed the speedo. the problems was with a connection going to the coil of thin copper. all 3 connections were corroded so cleaned them up abit and noticed that a stupidly thin bit of copper had broken. spent a pretty long time with a strand of speaker cable and luckly managed to somehow solder in a little length.
works so all is well!
cheers for the instruction brian
