So my '87 M-technik 1 has had something weird going on recently. If you've read the title you already know my problem. There is a solid spurt of oil all the way up to full, and then there's a thin line with a few splotches about halfway up. And yes, I let it cool down and wipe it off. My engine has 161,000 miles and runs great. I've never had this problem with any vehicle I've owned. Any suggestions would be great.

If the engine is cold, has been stopped for some time, and the dipstick is pulled out, wiped, reinserted, then pulled out again, the only place the oil spots on the dipstick can be coming from are from the dipstick tube.
I don't consider this to be unusual, but if you're convinced it's something new, check that the dipstick is sealing properly when it's in, and not allowing oil vapour to be blown up the tube.
