Some of you may remember me from a few months ago, my dad has just bought a facelift 318i 2 door, (1990) and it doesnt have a sunroof, am i right in thinking they are rarer. The car is for sale for anyone wondering.

Out of the 30 or so E30s that I have/have had, that aren't rag tops, just two haven't been the factory fitted sunroof model. Out of the two, one had a Webasto glass sunroof fitted, and the other has air con.

Back in then 80's a sunroof was a major selling (and resale) point for any car so many E30's had them.
I don't have any figures to back up it either but years of owning and repairing them for a living I can say for certain they are far less commom without a sunroof.

I would have thought the sunroof models would have been rarer now as most have rusted away.........

Not as rare as the version that didn't have a radio cut out at all.

If your E30 didn't have a sun roof, at the time, it was pauper spec. Has it got manual windows, no OBC and an analogue clock?

The sunroof option might not have been selected if the aircon was? Considering a sunroof was something to have in terms of resale or snob value, not having one must Ben down to cost or just not liking them, perhaps.

It is generally basic spec cars that seem to non sunroof but as with everything there are exceptions to the rule.Gert_8 wrote:The sunroof option might not have been selected if the aircon was? With the A/C option, in the UK if someone specced A/C then they were usually higher specced cars which usually meant a sunroof as well.
