My m40 316 idles at around 700 rpm is this the correct idle rpm?

Been having trouble with my motor for a year with awful running and have tried many things to sort it..
I have a new coolant temp sensor coming and fuel filter to try those too, Im getting fed up because i cant see this engine being worth the cost!

What my main question was , is the engine note supposed to change when i take the vacuum hose off of the FPR because my car runs the same with no RPM drop whatsoever that i can notice

My car has an intermittant problem where i rev the car and it sounds like a rev limiter struggling to accelerate and sometimes it doesnt it revs fine..

I have had a look at the cam and rockers and they seem ok to me so i kind of ruled that out

I also tried a vacuum leak test with carb cleaner and it seemed fine as i have replaced a couple of hoses anyway

All plugs and leads replaced
Dizzy cap and rotor replaced

Could my timing be out?.. i read it somewhere that could be the problem
But would it be intermittant?

on another note will a blocked mid section box blocked cause it as mine is past it

Replaced the coolant temp sensor and the car is a LOT more drivable but not 100% there
Thinking injectors need a clean so going to whip them out for a clean
Not sure exactly how I do this but what I think is I need a battery a couple of pieces of wire and a syringe?
I will ask injectortune eventually but just want it running well first before perfect
