Hi, I have managed to break my glovebox handle off and it now won't open. How can I fix it please?

I had this happen on my second E30,as I recall I pulled the glove box down just obove the latch as much as I could without backing it more and then getting a small flat screw driver and push it in the gap you've made, and then push it up against either side of the latch which should release it,good luck, when you've opened it have a look at Bmwoem parts and you will find the part that's broken can still be bought without buying all the latch and lock.

Can't see the point of that. Whats wrong with swapping the catch from the 'new' lid into the existing one.

Go under the back of the latch (handle) and push up or down the lock mechanism. It will unlock

Got it open, the hinge has snapped off, so need a new handle. I will then have to swap the key barrel over to keep the same key.
