Hi All,
I'm overhauling the brakes on my 325i sport and as I'll be replacing the handbrake shoes wondered if a kit is available to replace the springs and retainer fastenings?
If so, is it dealer supplied only? Anyone have a part number?
The existing springs etc. look in decent order, and I think I replaced them around 11/12 years ago when I last changed the shoes, rear discs etc. but would like spares on hand for when one inevitably pings off never to be found.
Advice much appreciated,
Cheers
Stu

I think this little kit will do the job

You just need to check they are for disc brake cars

Bought that kit last week, didn't find the springs seated really well for the top Spring was in the way of the adjuster.blimmer86 wrote:https://m.gsfcarparts.com/625bm0090 Usually have a 50% sale at weekends
Thanks, chaps. The eBay linked kit looks correct from the photos and worth a go at that price I'd say. I've compared it to photos I took yesterday of my handbrakes inner workings and all the parts look like they'd do the trick.
I did see the GSF one when searching but assumed it was for drum braked cars, mustn't be but much more expensive and it sounds like possible fitment issues from the reply above?
Thanks again, will report back at the weekend (assuming all parts arrive in time and weather permits) when I have a go at fitting them all.

Just to update. I fitted the eBay kit linked above this weekend whilst changing all my brakes and it was spot on. Thanks again for the advice.
I took a few pics I'll post on my 'members cars' thread when i get round to it which may help anyone else doing similar.
On a related note, any tips on bedding in the handbrake shoes to get them working relatively quickly as my car is in for MOT in a few days. The Volvo owners manual for one I had with a similar handbrake arrangement advised driving a short distance with the handbrake pulled on a few clicks so I could do that on the way to the MOT. No issues bedding in the new discs and pads as I've done that many times before but it's over a decade since I change the handbrake shoes on my E30...

Hi, I got a set of Pagid shoes from Car Parts 4 Less (same as Euro parts but generally cheaper), their part no. is 1031 10018, priced just over £20 with a discount code.M3KUK wrote:Where did you get the shoes from? I need to to this job too.

Similar advice is in your E30 drivers' handbook. One notch past first resistance felt in the lever, then drive 400m.StuB wrote: The Volvo owners manual for one I had with a similar handbrake arrangement advised driving a short distance with the handbrake pulled on a few clicks

Thanks, Brian - will do. I've currently loaned all my E30 books to my brother in law who recently bought one so didn't have them available to reference.Brianmoooore wrote:Similar advice is in your E30 drivers' handbook.
