Photocopy is to check up on points, and the check to see if there's any modifications that have not been declared. My cousin got asked for a copy of his licence, but haven't had the check done before though....

av posted this be for but al say it again.

one of my work mates insured an r5 gt turbo with them and when he came to insure it again the nxt year with flux ( it was very heavily modified so flux was reealy the only option) they checked his milage and tryed to charge him Ԛ£600 for going over the agreed mailage by about 250 miles. might be worth adding a high milage just to make sure you dont go over it.

anything thats not a standard bmw part can be classed as a mod, right down to the gearknob.doesnt have to be a performance mod, anything that might make it more appealing to a thief counts to.have you declared any other mods to them?ive only ever had to fill in a modified vehicle report, ive never had to have it inspected.you can also pull the 2 wires out on your diff to keep the mileage down, and use aroad angel gps type device to keep track of your speed, not that id do such a thing personally winkeye

i'm with adrian flux and have never had a problem with them. i have to fill in a modified vehicle report form once a year but that's it.

i've told them about my M30 conversion and it's going to cost... Ԛ£50 more per year! :D they also reckon at renewal time i can switch underwriters and get the price lower than i can on a standard 325i!!! my current underwriters will cover me on the M30 powered touring, but not on my astra van!!! :D

they wanted Ԛ£800ish for my 325i tourer when i bought it assuming it was standard, after inspecting it and telling them it had been lowered, had 15" sport wheels, ATE grooved disks, mintex pads and a scorpion exhaust they dropped it to Ԛ£500! they can get better specialist deals with certain mods! :D the M30 3.5 conversion will be Ԛ£550 til the end of this premium but they reckon it'll be sub Ԛ£500 at renewal time! oh, they don't want any more money if i upgrade the brakes which is very sensible. some companies want more for this! 8O a 3.5 with upgraded brakes should cost less than a 3.5 with standard brakes in my book, lucky they agree!

They want Ԛ£650 in total from me when I fit a 3.2 M3 Evo engine to my 318is..

Not bad eh?? That was for 10k miles and not driving to work though which I'll have to change this year as my circumstances have changed (I sometimes drive to work now).

Nah, third party fire and theft...

Before now my car's haven't been worth a w*nk!

I'll probably get an agreed value and fully comp when I insure it in case somebody car-jacks me or something! (happened to a friend recently)That'll mean the insurance will be more but I could drive legally for Ԛ£650! Couldn't insure a car with the equivalent performance for that.

Quite surprised really, expected the degree of modification to make it a no-no. Guess people like Ian and Buster have set a precident and not crashed. Insurance is statistics after all.

Just changed to Adrian Flux and they did want a lot of extra info you dont usually have to supply but they were cheap and my existing company wouldnt insure a modified car
