Hi everyone
I will soon be fitting a replacement head cloth to my E30 I have also to replace the sunroof mechanism. My question is which is the best way to do it is it to fit the cables etc first then fit the head cloth or to fit the head cloth then can I fit the sunroof mechanism after sticking down the head cloth, doing away with the need to tuck it under the silver plates while attached to cables etc. Any advice on which is the easiest way to do this is most welcome.
Thanks Glenn

Cables are just fed into the tubes from the sunroof end, so it's irrelevant whether the roof lining is there or not. If, for some reason, you're changing the guide tubes, then they're obviously best worked on with the lining out of the way.
You haven't said what E30 you have - roof lining on a touring is completely different in every way to that on a saloon, and some models have a seperate black roof console , which doesn't have the roof lining in the front where the guide tubes are.

Its a 318is so it has the panel at the front I will be changing the tubes first, but need to know if after that I can fit the head cloth followed by the cables, plates etc after sticking the edges of the head cloth down rather than trying to feed it under the plates
