. A few weeks ago (after thinking id never get one) i bought myself an E30 M3 of my own.
Its a bit of a project and i bought it as a non runner, it needs a few bits of rust sorting, paint work and just a really good going through and all the perishable parts replaced etc, but the way i looked at it, it had 3 previous owners, it is still LHD, it is HPI clear and i could break it for parts for more than what i paid for it.
The car is originally a German car made in 1987 imported into the UK in 1999 by a company called Ajec racing. From what i have been told they carried out the conversion on the car taking the S14 out and fitting a S38B38 from an E34 M5, the gearbox was also replaced with the 6 speed from the E34 and some uprated camshafts and crankshaft, from what i have been told the car was running 370bhp although there is no proof of this.
The car was then sold onto the previous owner in Redditch, who drove it for a year and then for some reason parked it up in 2001 and it hasn't been on the road since!
A friend of mine found out about the car and bought it late last year, from the man who had it parked up for 16 years, and stored it with the intention of restoring it but due to purchasing another classic car, he told me he was selling this so i purchased it from him.
So the plans for the car:
- First of all i need to get it running, the car turns over freely and has fuel but no spark, 2 different ECU's have been tried but to no avail, it has had new coils and plugs, so not to sure what it could be. I am thinking to keep the S38 in there as as much as i would like to have a nice original S14 M3, the cost of sourcing the engine, box and ancillaries and fitting it all would probably cost as much as i paid for the whole car. And who would want to go from 370bhp back to 195bhp lets be serious a˜‰
- It has full black heated leather which will need the rear bench sorting as it has a small tear.
- The bumpers have been smoothed over (very 90's) so will need to either have the filler taken out, or failing that new bumpers
- Bodywork is needed to passenger rear quarter, rear panel, and under fuse box and sills
They are the most pressing things that need sorting, obviously other things will be done like wheels, headlights, splitters, interior bits etc etc
Sorry about the lack of pictures, i haven't really had a chance to take many but i will update this when i can, thank you for reading a˜Š
