Never driven a 325i

As above,I've got a 320i (sig) the question is what would I notice performance wise if I drove a 325i cab for example.

They do go a lot better than a 320i. They aren't fast by any stretch of the imagination but are certainly fun.

320's do suit cabs though

I've driven two, briefly. One was shagged and felt slower than the 320i I had beforehand. The other went well but was a rustbucket!

Conclusion? Yeah they go well enough. But find a good 'un :p

Yes, noticeably more low-down and mid-range torque with the 325i (I've owned two 320i and two 325i, all saloons), so more get up and go, with the same or better fuel economy.

I'd say the only snag is the potential for the 325i's cylinder head to crack - 320i ones are tougher.

I drove yours before you bought it and ended up buying a 325i auto. The 325i is a bit lazy but does wake up on kick down.

I have a 320i Cabby like you and a 325i 4 door, both are auto's but the 320i is switchable.
325 is quicker of course, but it's a lazier power delivery, the 320 likes to rev especially in sport
mode. I was really surprised by the 320i engine, thought it would be dog slow with it being a Cabby
and Auto, but it's a lovely sweet revving engine and not slow at all.

My 320i is a 1992 so has a Cat also, 325i is 1989. 84k vs 105k miles.

Yours, being a 1989 325i, probably has the low compression engine, which are nowhere near as lively feeling as the earlier (pre-mid 1988) high compression ones.

The high compression ones, when in good fettle, certainly shouldn't feel 'lazy'.

I thought the 320 in my cab went well above 3500 rpm but was pretty flat below. especially when 4 up. Going up hills needed kickdown. got quite annoying but b20 2.8 seems to have sorted it

so much bullshit, a good 325i is like night and day compared to a good 320i

I think there is quite a significant differance between the 2.... 320i is a great cruiser as is the 325i but the low down torque for the 325i is nice and smooth....... however, a 320i with a nice exhaust does sound nice!
