Hi,
I need to remove the pedal box to sort out some rot behind it. Is it an easy job to remove and what would the steps be?
It's a 318i pre face lift manual.
Thanks for the help.

Very easy job once the car is stripped I can tell you that.
I'm thinking (and this is just a guess) you wont have to take the dash out, just the trim pieces that are in the way. Also the clutch and throttle cable's need to come out along with the clutch reservoir. I think its 6 bolts, four on the back and two at the top, from the inside.
I may be missing something but I'll have a think and try and remember what I've just done, days ago..
bad memory!

Hi Stevie, thanks for the response.
Is it a simple case of remove bolts take it out, or do I need to empty any of the fluids and is it just as straight forward putting it back in?
I will take some pics at lunch see if that might help jog any memories lol.
I will be taking the carpet out, would glovebox need to be removed too? or just the trims on the drivers side?

It's a bitch if a job unless you are small made as you are stuck in the footwell. You need to remove carpet, the e-clip which holds the throttle pedal on, the clutch slave cylinder connection from the pedal and disconnect the brake bar at the pedal. Take photos of the brake bar placement and where the nuts are tightened up to. You need to wiggle it out past the brake bar and don't forget the two nuts at the side.

That was it!
The brake bar that goes across. When I was doing it, I could see that would be a bitch if I hadn't had the car in the state it was.
best thing to do is just go at it and you'll see whats going on along the way. I think everything that needs doing has been mentioned now.

Take the seat out first. It's only four bolts/nuts and improves the access a lot.

Okay so I have attempted this job today. Not much luck as it was rusted behind the bolts so had to have someone try and grip the square part from the engine bay while I was turning them.
I've taken off the 4 bolts going into the firewall. I've taken off the 2 bolts just above the spring and electric connector parallel to the floor. I've disconnected the bar going across and removed the bolt connecting clutch slave cylinder to pedal. Do I just wiggle that out now? How do I get the slave cylinder out too? Need that bit welding too. Do I just remove the pipe on engine bay? Will fluid come out of it?
Thanks for all the help guys.
